How to Prime Your Mind for Positive Mental Thoughts

Imagine what a beautiful world we would have if everyone were always happy, thankful, and had positive thoughts all the time. Imagine how wonderful our society would be if everyone tried to do what they could to make others’ life better. Imagine how happy you would be if you were surrounded by happy people. Imagine how great you would feel when people around you showed a willingness to help you and share their valuable knowledge without expecting anything in return.

It is fair to say that all of these great things sound like a dream and seem impossible to achieve. It is also unfair to say that people can’t make this dream come true just because it sounds difficult or even impossible.

Remember, any dream you have is just a dream if you don’t have a goal, and any goal you have is just a goal if you don’t have a plan, and any plan you have is just a plan if you don’t have the desire, hunger, and determination to implement it. My favorite actor, Denzel Washington, once said, “Dreams without goals are just dreams.”

You might be curious and ask, “What can I do as a person to make this dream a reality and make the world a better place?”

Well, you start by working on yourself. First, you need to learn how to be happy and have positive mental thoughts. It might sound like a difficult task, but it’s actually quite easy to do.

Understanding the concept of gratitude is one of the most powerful ways to acquire, retain, and increase happiness. It’s true that we all face bad circumstances beyond our control. We all go through down periods in our lives, and we all feel down once in a while, no matter how hard we try to be a better version of ourselves. We all sometimes fail miserably and even suffer. It’s also true that we sometimes experience wonderful moments and accomplish amazing things, but the problem is that we don’t always record those great moments. As time passes, our memories fade, and we forget to feel grateful for those awesome things because we never wrote them down.

Make it a habit to write down whatever great things happen in your life. You can do this on a piece of paper or in your tablet/smartphone so you can read it later whenever you’re having a down period. You will be surprised how difficult it will be to feel bad after you read about all the great things that happened in your life.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.”

I’ve found that keeping a daily journal can be a very rewarding addition to your day. In the morning, you can ask yourself, “What can I do to grow myself as a person today, and what can I do to make someone else’s day better?” Then, at the end of the day, answer these questions: “What did I do today to make myself a better person, and what did I do today to make someone else’s day better?” Write a simple statement about all the great things that happened to you during the day, regardless of how bad your day was.

It’s a very simple task, and it doesn’t even take 10 minutes. It will definitely have a positive impact on your life, push you out of your comfort zone, and move you toward a better future. It will make you feel that you are accomplishing and growing as a person every day while making someone else’s life better.

If the above strategy became a normal practice for most people in the world, do you think it would have a positive impact on society? I’ll leave that question for you to answer.
